Outline
Bulk activity imports are an efficient way to add or update multiple activities in the Intellum platform. Unrestricted admin can bulk import activity data to the Intellum platform via a .csv file. This type of import can be used to create new activities or update existing activities by overwriting activity properties.
How it Works
- Download a sample file to use as a template to create an import file.
- Add activity data to create an import file that will map your activity data to activity properties fields in the platform.
- Upload your file through the Bulk activity import page to add, and/or update, activities.
This article walks you through creating an activity import file in order to bulk import activities for activity creation or update.
Things to note:
- A .csv file is required for the import.
- There is no undo for bulk activity imports. Issues caused by a bulk import can be resolved by fixing the file and repeating the process.
Create an Import File
If it's your first time bulk importing activities, visit the Bulk activity import page to download a sample file that you can use as a template to create an import file for your activity data.
Activities, Paths, and Collections tabs each feature an Import option. However, you will follow the same steps to successfully import your content.
Navigate to Content.
Click Import.
The Bulk activity import page opens.
Click the linked text to download a sample file.
Heads Up! | Setting up your Import File
- If you're creating activities, activity code should be unique
- If you're updating activities, use the existing activity codes
- Every column in the sample file must be included in your import file. If you don't have data for a column, you can leave it blank
- An import file that includes existing activities will overwrite data in activity properties - this includes removing existing data if a column is left blank
Bulk Import Activities
The Bulk activity import page features notes and instructions to walk you through a successful import. You will find a sample import file linked on the page that can be used as a template to create an import file for activities.
The page also features a table highlighting the structure and description of each column included in the import file. This information is also available in a downloadable spreadsheet on the page.
With your .csv import file prepared, follow these steps to bulk import activities:
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Choose File.
Select the .csv file you created for your bulk activity import.
Click Upload.
4. Preview your import to validate the data and the column structure.
5. Click Import File.
New activities appear in the Content list after a successful import.
Heads Up!
If you don't see your new activities right away, check the System Log to follow up on the status of your import file. Large imports may be queued before being completed.
