This component is suitable for use when creating accessible courses.
The Video Stream component is an interactive presentation component that displays streaming video from a video service outside of Evolve to the learner. The Video Stream component can be set as a Left, Full-width, or Right component in your Evolve course.
This article provides an overview of the Video Stream component, component setup, and behavior.
Component overview
The Video Stream component presents a streaming video to learners. It is possible to set the Video Stream to Auto play when the Video component appears on a page in an Evolve course. Possible configurations for the Video Stream component depend on the video service for the Video Stream.
The Video Stream component is fully responsive.
Component set up
To add this component, follow the steps in this article:
Add a Component
Explore everything there is to know about Evolve. This collection begins with the basics of Evolve and completes with information on the tool's more advanced features. Feel free to start from the beginning or hop around to the specific section that suits your needs.
The Property Panel for the newly added component will then open automatically for you to customize set-up.
Or click anywhere on an existing component to open the Property Panel.
General section
In the General section:
Add Title, or a Display Title, as needed. Display Title is seen by learners.
Scroll down and add your Body. Use the text editor to style and format your text, as needed.
- Add Instruction Text that tells users how to use the component.
- Include an Aria Label for screen readers, as needed.
Interaction Label section
In the Interaction Label section, you can enable an Interaction Label.
The Interaction Label allows you to add a widget before or after the Video Stream component. This widget can display an icon and label prior to the Video Stream component completion, which changes to a different icon and label once the Video Stream component is completed.
Streaming service section
In the Streaming service section, you select the Streaming Service to use for the video. Enter the Streaming Service Embed Code for the chosen Streaming Service.
Behavior & Accessibility sections
Depending on which Streaming Service you selected, the Behavior and Accessibility settings will change.
YouTube
In the Behavior section, select Set completion status on to one of the options in the drop-down list: Inview, Play or Ended. This setting is set to Inview for all Streaming Videos by default.
Enter number of seconds from the beginning the Video Starts At. Set Interface Language. Toggle Auto-play video, Loop video, Disable keyboard shortcuts, Allow Full Screen, Modest Branding, and Use Light Theme, as needed.
Note: Enabling Modest Branding will have no effect if the light theme is enabled for the player.
In the Accessibility section, add your Button Label and Transcript Text . Use the text editor to style and format your text, as needed.
Toggle Open in Popup and Show Closed Captions, as needed. Set a Default Closed Caption Language, as needed.
Vimeo
In the Behavior section, select Set completion status on to one of the options in the drop-down list. Allow Full Screen is enabled by default.
In the Accessibility section, add your Button Label and Transcript Text . Use the text editor to style and format your text, as needed.
Toggle Open in Popup, as needed.
Brightcove
In the Behavior section, select Set completion status on to one of the options in the drop-down list. Toggle Auto-play video and Loop video, as needed.
In the Accessibility section, add your Button Label and Transcript Text . Use the text editor to style and format your text, as needed.
Toggle Open in Popup, as needed.
Wistia
In the Behavior section, select Set completion status on to one of the options in the drop-down list.
Toggle Use Wistia Customization Options, as needed. Enabling this option overrides the customization options for the video set through the Wistia website.
In the Accessibility section, add your Button Label and Transcript Text . Use the text editor to style and format your text, as needed.
Toggle Open in Popup, as needed.

In the Behavior section, select Set completion status on to one of the options in the drop-down list.
